SOC 2 compliance
SOC 2 (Type II): a comprehensive auditing standard that assesses a company’s security, confidentiality, and privacy. It is a standard intended to ensure rigorous security policies, appropriate levels of monitoring and response planning, strict access controls, and data protections.
It is a common certification standard for the minimum trust level for offering products to enterprise companies globally. It’s especially important for companies that handle sensitive user data, such as personal and client information.
HIPAA compliance
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act): set of US national standards for compliance certification to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge.
HIPAA compliance is a crucial compliance certification for products that have the potential to be used by medical providers or anyone who could be handling personal health information.
HIPAA sets minimum privacy rules including security standards for protecting health information and enforcement mechanisms/penalties for any violations.
